Bishop Reginald A. McGill

53e28 Casual Picture of Pastor McGillBishop Reginald A. McGill is a native Floridian and a product of the Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, FL, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communications.  In May of 2011, he received his Master of Divinity degree from Northeastern Seminary in Rochester, NY.

Bishop McGill is the Founder and Senior Pastor of New Life Ministries, Inc. (New Life Fellowship), which came into being in 1984 as God birthed in the spirit of Bishop McGill a church that would be in complete obedience to His Lordship.  Where stature in this life and past burdens would be set aside as all come to understand the outstanding freedom of being led by the Spirit.

New Life Fellowship Church of God in Christ began with seven members, and moved to a location on Hobart Street in Rochester, NY.  In early 1986, preceding the incorporation of the ministry, the Lord spoke to Bishop Reginald McGill about stepping away from the denominational association.  Using the same approach that Abraham exercised when answering the calling of Jehovah to move out of Ur, Bishop McGill obediently incorporated the ministry as New Life Fellowship.

In 1988, while in Tulsa, Oklahoma , God spoke to Bishop McGill very clearly and said that He was calling New Life Fellowship to a Matthew 5:14 ministry:  “You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

God spoke of the many who would come to this ministry to experience His presence and be healed and delivered; not ever the same.  More and more souls came to New Life Fellowship in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.  This was in large part due to intercessory prayer and the evangelistic presence everywhere in the ministry.  Due to the expansion, Bishop McGill left his full time position as the Personnel Director for the New York State Department of Transportation and became the full-time Shepherd.

By April 1991, as Sunday attendance had doubled from 350 to more than 700 individuals weekly, a building located at 362 Columbia Avenue was purchased and a two-service format was instituted.

As New Life Fellowship continued to move into its destiny and ventured to expand the vision, the congregation continued to grow exponentially.  Everyday hundreds of people were touched by New Life through the love of God and by the ministering of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

For example, over 35 children and youth participated weekly in activities including Children’s Church, Youth Choir, and a drama ministry.  Young adults and seniors became actively involved in various outreach programs such as evangelism, drug and alcohol counseling, senior adult’s ministry and jail and prison ministry.

Noted as one of the fastest growing urban churches in the Greater Rochester Metropolitan area, New Life Fellowship has over 20 ministries that are serving the Southwest Community and Monroe County. As the community continued to link with the vision of New Life Fellowship and turned back to God, the borders of 362 Columbia Avenue began to swell.  It was time for New Life Fellowship to enlarge the site of their tent.

In the spring of 1998, a church facility located on Wellington Avenue became available.  The former Westminster Presbyterian Church, a beautiful landmark built in 1915 was bought by New Life Fellowship.  On Sunday, November 15, 1998 New Life Fellowship was able to expand its vision of reconciliation and restoration in the community, and is still doing so today!

Bishop McGill shares the pastorate of New Life Ministries, Inc. with his wife, Co-Pastor Dr. Cynthia L. McGill, to whom he has been married since 1972. He and his wife have two lovely daughters and a granddaughter, who has captured their hearts.
